What do I need to check for or look a little deeper in on an new 07 Open Road? Any certain areas of concern? What have been the most reoccuring problems that you owners have experianced? Any frame concerns? If Pilgrim International were still in business, how many of you would purchase another new RV from them? Any Feedback is appreciated. I have cruised the forum and done some research. However it appears that the forum has had a period of little postings. It does appear that as of late postings are again on the increase. Thank you, Jon PS: We are not new to RVing. We currently have a 1997 Travel Supreme 40' triple slide. Have had a couple of American Eagles motorhomes, Jayco Class C, as well as pop-up trailers, and truck slide in unit.

Have I not only, not had any problems, I keeping finding new things that impresses me. As long as you get a "good" warrantee from whoever you buy from, I don't think you'll have any problems. I think that you will find most other opinions are similar to mine. I'm getting ready to downsize my Open Road, and as soon as I get my current one sold, I'm going to begin looking for another Open Road or at least a Pilgrim of some kind. Good luck.

My wife and I spent several years researching manufacturers before purchasing our 2008 (built in May of 2007) Open Road. The price was right but we had always felt that the Carriage Cameo with it's 2 year bumper to bumper warranty was our first choice. I think there are things that can show up in the second year that don't in the first. If I had it to do over again and based on what has happened to Pilgrim, I probably wouldn't do it again. Having said that, the defects we've had have been relatively minor and we did manage to get some of them fixed under warranty before Pilgrim went under. I'm sort of sitting on the fence here, so I don't know whether that's helpful or not!

I have been pulling a trailer for 32 years. Of that this is the 5th year with the OR. I have had to spend more money on maintenance and repairs on this unit than my other units combined over their 27 years. For some reason I cannot keep caulking on it. I have had to redo this every year and sometimes patch between. My slide in the bedroom currently needs major work ($1000 - $2000). I seem to have a bubble forming on the rubber roof. I have had to pull the skin off from under the nose twice $700 each time. I had to have additional bracing placed under the floor in the bedroom where it attaches to chassis. We love the unit when all is ok. It had many standard items on it that were extra cost when we were looking at units. Before Pilgrim went under, they were very forth coming with help with problems even after the warranty ran out.. Now you have the good bad and the ugly. I probably just got a lemon unit. Right now I would like to unload this thing as I cannot keep ahead of it's needed TLC. Bob 2004 OR 316RLS 1995 Dodge Cummins 2500 - Pullrite Super 5, DTT tranny, 4" exhaust, PAC Brake, Bilstine shocks, TST #5 Cam plate, Cool air intake mods.....

We have had very good luck with it - only very minor issues that the dealer took care of immediately. We have been living in ours full time since March 2008 and could not be happier. Would I buy another one? In a heartbeat! My only disappoint is that Pilgrim went out of business and I will not have that opportunity. I hope you hear from many other happy Open Road owners.

Must admitt it was nice than I had expected from looking at the photos. I can see why Open Road owners are proud of their RV. This is a new old stock unit/dealer repo. It does have a few items that need to be addressed, such as recaulked, missing a tail light, one over head cabinet door missing in the den. A wall switch is missing and the street side plastic fender was cracked. And it only has 1 15K A/C ducted unit for a 40' trailer. Dealer said all items would be taken care of, plus he would install a 13.5K non-ducted A/C in the bedroom. This unit was built in late 2006 as a 2007 year model. It does not come with any TVs, of which there are cabinets for three..one in the bedroom, one in the small entertainment center in the kitchen, and one in the entertainment center in the Den. It has the free standing dinette, two sofa sleepers and two swivel recliners. It also is a triple axle trailer with China-Boom tires. The original MSRP was around $63,000. I can pick it up around $25,000. It would have the factory warranty on the appliances from the appliance manufacture. As well as a 1 year warranty from the dealer which cover the basic unit from the axles up, but does not address any structual/frame/sidewall issues. My biggest concern is posted in another post dealing with recaulking issues with the Open Road line that may have to do with some small hair line cracks I located....please see my other post for details. Anyway does this sound like a Deal or No Deal purchase. I guess bottom line there is really nothing wrong with our TS, I think I am just ready for something new. My TS may need a new water heater soon from the looks of the rust around the dripping pressure relief valve. And new tires, but that would be all she needs, well maybe a coat of Poli Coat finish which I already have....just need the energy to go apply it. How about some feedback now that I have given some additional information. Do I jump on it as a bargain or ?

I have been doing a lot of pricing, since I would like to sell mine, and the sooner you get that one off the market, it will make mine look better. It sounds like the dealer wants to work with you and hopefully correct the defects. Get everything in writing and go for it.

We happened to be standing in our local dealership last year when a 40 ft. triple axle Open Road (probably about a 2006 or 2007 model) was in for repairs. The front hitch had partially given way causing the trailer to almost collapse onto the bed of the truck. It was a lippert frame problem and the repair was massive involving taking the whole front cap off. The questions I asked the repair guys indicated that the hitch mounting just wasn't stong enough and they were having to weld new mountings to make it the way it should have been in the first place. You sure wouldn't want to end up with this problem. The guy who had this problem became aware of it while towing at highway speeds and with his whole family in his one ton truck. If he had lost control, it could have been a disaster.

Its a 359RL3S-3 slides, rear living, king bed, and have had no problems with it. The original warranty was 1 yr. The only thing replaced was the top of the oak dining table, it split in a few places-could have been us staying in Arizona for the winter and no humidity. We just love it, stay in it 5-6 months during the winter. Tows great, and has lots of room. Its parked in our drive way, will be heading to Bancroft Ontario end of July for a rock and gem show..would we buy another, yes. but this one will last us a long time..Dona The Johnson's Ontario, Canada 2007 359RL3S 2004 F350 Diesel Crew
